The Yale Men's and Women's Club Water Polo Teams accept players of all skill level and experience. There are no cuts or tryouts. If you have questions about the teams, please contact: firstname.lastname@example.org (Men) or email@example.com (Women).
We compete in the New England Division of the Collegiate Water Polo Association, playing teams such as BC, BU, Dartmouth, Middlebury, and Wesleyan. We also compete in the annual Ivy Championships, which involves both the varsity and club programs from each of the 8 Ivy League schools.
The men's season runs from September throughout the beginning of November. The women's season runs from January to April. During the season we practice from 8-10 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and 8:30-10 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Kiphuth Exhibition Pool in Payne Whitney Gym. During the off-season, we hold intra-squad scrimmages every Saturday from 3-5pm in the Exhibition Pool.
Every year the men's team organizes pre-season training. The training begins around August 15th and lasts approximately 2 weeks. Matriculating freshman are encouraged to attend pre-season training since it is a great way to meet the team and get in shape before school starts.
The women's team organizes a week-long mid-season training trip over spring break. Previous trips have taken place in Puerto Rico, Los Angeles, and New Orleans.
Because Yale Water Polo is a club sport we do not offer athletic scholarships and have no influence whatsoever in the admissions process. However, to find out more about Yale's financial aid program please visit the Yale Office of Undergraduate Admissions Website.
